2020 Ramadan/COVID Relief Fundraiser

During our 2020 Ramadan fundraiser, many people in our communities were facing dark times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many lost their jobs, and faced tough decisions on how to keep a roof over their heads and their families fed. This was the beginning of our charitable initiatives and the huge impact we made in such a short time inspired us to continue using our platform for good and helping those in need. We were able to raise over $7,000 for Nubian families in Cairo, Aswan, and the USA struggling with financial hardships. We helped families pay their rent, buy groceries, and pay their children's educational costs.

A case that touched our hearts was five orphaned Nubian girls living in Cairo. Since their parents had passed away, their oldest sister has been looking after them with no real adult guidance. The girls had little to no resources and relied on the generosity of their neighbors to get by. Thanks to your kind donations, as most of their clothes were in poor condition or no longer fit, as well as assist them with other expenses such as food, utilities, and medical treatment for one of the girls. We cannot begin to express their gratitude and the joy on their faces when they received these items.

Aiding Sudanese Refugees in Egypt

This also marked the beginning of our efforts to support the Sudanese refugee community in Cairo. When we learned about the poor conditions Sudanese refugees were living in, we felt compelled to help our brothers and sisters to the best of our ability. Like many refugee communities around the world, Sudanese refugees in Egypt are an extremely disadvantaged and marginalized group. We were able to provide more than 200 families with water, food, necessities, and clothing items. In addition, our NubiYouth Gives Back team cooked and distributed over 200 hot meals.

The urgent need for assistance in this community is only growing, as the number of Sudanese refugees in Egypt is increasing everyday. We hope to always be able to provide them with the relief and hospitality they deserve as guests in our country.
